@UCDavisEcon alum Nick Sanders explains protective effects of flu shots against air pollution

@UCDavisEcon alum Nicholas J. Sanders wrote an Econofact.org memo to explain to the public how getting your flu shot can help mitigate some of the worst impacts from air pollution.

"Poor air quality has a lot of negative consequences: it shortens our lifespans, hinders learning, damages our brains, and makes us less productive at work," they write. "There’s emerging evidence to support one surprising action that people can take to help guard against one of the harms from unexpected increases in air pollution: getting a flu shot."

The piece distills for the broader public a research paper the authors released on the topic during the 2020 fire season.
