Joaquim Silvestre wins the X Prize of the Catalan Economic Society

The book Sustainability for a Warming Planet (by Humberto Llavador, John Roemer & Joaquim Silvestre, Harvard University Press) was granted the X Prize of the Catalan Economic Society Society. The prize will be awarded in Barcelona, May 25, 2017.

 

This is a biennial prize targeting high-quality research in economics by authors with affiliation in territories of Catalan culture, as is the case of Humberto Llavador, of the Universitat Pompeu Fabra in Barcelona. 

 

The official minutes of the committee’s decision state that the book “contains important scientific and methodological contributions to the analysis of long run sustainability and addresses a central issue in the concerns of economists and ecologists. It is rigorous and well documented text.”

Professor Silvestre's co-authors also have a relationship with UC Davis. 

Humberto Llavador obtained his Ph. D. in our Department in 2000.

John E. Roemer taught in our Department from 1974 to 2000.
