for Domestic Applicants

Please note: the figures quoted below reflect information available at the time this document was prepared. The information provided below is not meant to be accurate and should be taken only as an indication of the actual figures.
   Also, please note that figures differ depending upon whether a student is a California Resident or a Non-Resident of California.

WHAT ARE MY CHANCES FOR ADMISSION AND/OR FINANCIAL AID?
    It will depend on how each applicant’s record compares with those of many other applicants. It is therefore impossible to estimate an individual’s chances until all applications have been received and examined.



WHAT ARE THE FEES FOR DOMESTIC STUDENTS FOR THE 2004-2005 ACADEMIC YEAR?
    The following table summarizes the information detailed below about total fees per year (for the 2004-2005 academic year) depending on whether or not you are a California Resident and whether or not you are a Teaching Assistant. NOTE: domestic students can generally establish California residency and avoid paying nonresident tuition charges after one year in California if appropriate steps are taken before the Fall Quarter begins (for more information see: http://gradstudies.ucdavis.edu/continue/resident.htm) .

TEACHING ASSISTANTSHIPS


    The Teaching Assistant salary for the 2004-2005 academic year is $14,357.00. It is paid monthly in 9 equal installments beginning November 1.  Since the payments are made on a monthly basis ($1592.22 per month), the quarterly salary is $4,785.67.

    Teaching Assistants are entitled to reduced In-State Fees (see fee information below).

    In addition, domestic students who are not California residents) who are offered a TAship for the entire academic year at 50% time, are entitled to some funding towards the cost of moving to California (this amount varies, depending on mileage). This funding will be paid after arrival in Davis, sometime after the fall quarter begins.



FELLOWSHIPS and SCHOLARSHIPS
    Domestic students meeting the admission requirements (e.g., minimum GPA of 3.25) may apply for fellowships (including nonresident tuition fellowship waivers for out-of-state students). Fellowships are determined on a competitive basis using the entire scholastic record.  Domestic students can generally establish California residence and avoid paying nonresident tuition fees after one year in California, provided that appropriate steps are taken before the Fall Quarter begins.



OTHER FINANCIAL AID
    Domestic students may request information concerning graduate loans, grants and work-study employment from Graduate Financial Aid Services, Dutton Hall, University of California, One Shields Avenue, Davis, CA 95616-8596. Tel. (530) - 752 9246  (10am - 12 noon and 1pm - 4 pm) ; e-mail: gradfinaid@ucdavis.edu. Applications are due in early March. International students are not eligible for these type of financial aid.



IN-STATE FEES
    All graduate students (international and domestic) must pay "In-State Fees".  Per Quarter, the In-State Fees are:

For CALIFORNIA RESIDENTS
For Non-Residents of California
Fall 2003; $2,802.50
Fall 2003; $2,884.50
Winter 2004: $2,802.50
Winter 2004: $2,884.50
Spring 2004: $2,801.50
Spring 2004: $2,882.50
Total: $8,406.50
Total: $8,651.50
(In-State Fees are reduced for Teaching Assistants; see further information below.)


NON-RESIDENT TUITION FEE
In addition to In-State Fees domestic students who are not California residents must pay the "Non-Resident Tuition Fee":
Per Quarter, the Non-Resident Tuition Fee is:

Fall 2003: $4,898
Winter 2004: $4,898
Spring 2004: $4,898

TOTAL Non-Resident Tuition Fee = $14,694.



REDUCED "IN-STATE FEES" FOR TEACHING ASSISTANTS

Teaching Assistants who are California residents are entitled to a discount ("partial fee remission") on In-State Fees of $7,838 per year.

Teaching Assistants who are non-residents of California are entitled to a discount ("partial fee remission") on In-State Fees of $8,083 per year.

TOTAL In-State Fees FOR TEACHING ASSISTANTS who are NON-RESIDENTS of California  $568.50.
