Chris Meissner is associate professor of Economics at the University of
California, Davis. His research focuses on the economic history of the
international economy particularly between 1870 and 1913. He is also a
Research Associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research (
NBER)
in the Development of the American Economy (DAE) program. Previous to
joining the faculty at Davis, Meissner was at the
Faculty of
Economics at
Cambridge University. In
Cambridge he was the Director of Studies in Economics and a Fellow of
King's College. He has
held visiting scholar positions at the International Monetary Fund and
Harvard. He was also a Houblon Norman fellow at the Bank of England.
Meissner earned his PhD in Economics from UC Berkeley in 2001 and his AB
from Washington University in St. Louis in 1996.
